I don’t have much energy to sit and explain everything at the moment but I’ll summarize. I was admitted after spending some time in the ER on the 25th of December (a CT scan showing obstructions kept me there and let to a new diagnosis of CIP) and was not discharged until the 31st, under the orders of my Gastroenterologist. I had a PICC placed and am now on TPN full-time until my doctors and homecare nurses can get me settled enough to re-introduce tube feeds (slooooowly).

I’ll blog the experience a little later when I can sit at the computer for as long as it will take to make the post. Hope everyone had a painfree and happy new year, celebrated with friends and family.

Glad your home and hope you can start tube feedings ASAP.

I feared that something had happened when you didn’t update for a while. I’m so sorry that you have had this set back, and on Christmas! That makes it a double whammy. You are certainly in my thoughts, please, relax and get well!

Oh Kirby, I’m so sorry to hear you had such a lousy time over the christmas period. I hope you are starting to feel a little stronger and able to get back to tube feeding soon enough, it’s bad enough having to have the tube over the festive season but then having to endure TPN is awful. I have been meaning to update you, I will send you a separate email when you are up to it but essentially I am getting my pacemaker inserted on 13th Jan (ie next week!). Will keep you updated on my journey and look forward to hearing how you are feeling and what happened.

Thanks Carolyn. It did suck. I didn’t expect to be there so long. I came home for a few days and then ended up right back in the ER and admitted for another 5-6 days at another hospital. What can you do? TPN isn’t that bad now that I have the CIP diagnosis. How did your pacer surgery go? Let me know!
